About ChainSprocketCalc
Free chain and sprocket calculators that run in your browser, built on published standards and manufacturer data.
What ChainSprocketCalc Does
ChainSprocketCalc is a set of free calculators for roller chain and sprocket drives. It covers the questions riders, builders and maintenance crews ask most: how many links a chain needs, which sprocket sizes give the gearing or speed you want, which chain size you are holding and whether a chain is worn out.
Start with the chain length calculator, or browse all 13 tools from the Calculators menu. They cover motorcycle, ANSI and ISO industrial, kart and bicycle chain.
Who It Is For
- Motorcycle and powersport owners changing sprockets or fitting a new chain.
- Bicycle riders sizing a chain for a new drivetrain or a single-speed build.
- Makers, fabricators and maintenance staff specifying industrial roller chain drives.
- Anyone who needs to identify a chain from calipers and a few measurements.
How We Keep It Accurate
Formulas follow published standards and manufacturer guidance, the chain database is checked against manufacturer tables, and the calculation code is covered by automated tests. Where a figure is only a typical value, the data marks it as approximate instead of presenting it as exact.
The details, with sources, are on How We Calculate, and the rules we follow for new and corrected content are in the Editorial Policy.
Independent and Private by Design
ChainSprocketCalc is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any chain, sprocket or vehicle manufacturer. Brand names appear only to identify standards and parts that people search for.
Calculations run in your browser, so the values you enter are not sent to us. See the Privacy Policy for the limited analytics we use.
