Editorial Policy

What we publish, how we check it and how to tell us when we are wrong.

Sourcing Standards

A technical claim is published only if it can be checked: against a standard (such as ASME B29.1), a manufacturer guide or table, or the site's own tested math. We prefer manufacturers and standards bodies over forum posts and retailer copy.

If a number cannot be sourced, we either mark it as approximate or leave it out. We have removed claims from earlier drafts for exactly this reason.

What We Never Claim

  • Features a calculator does not have.
  • Ratings, reviews or testimonials we do not hold.
  • Endorsement or affiliation with any manufacturer.
  • Safety certification of a drive, chain or sprocket.

Updates and Reviews

Content is reviewed when a standard, a manufacturer table or a reader report shows it is out of date, and when a calculator changes. Material changes to a calculation are covered by tests before they go live.

Corrections

If you find an error, email chainsprocketcalc@outlook.com with the page, what you expected and your source if you have one. We check it against the standard or manufacturer data and fix confirmed errors. We cannot promise a reply time, but every report is read.

Independence and Advertising

The calculators are free to use and are not influenced by manufacturers or retailers. If advertising or affiliate links are added in the future, they will be disclosed on the page and will not change calculator results.
